Summer Reading

Posted on: June 9th, 2016 by Breslau Mennonite Church

Whether it’s a hot day at the beach or under the shade of a tree, a cool evening sitting on a porch, patio, or dock, or a rainy day curled up inside – summer is a grand time for reading or listening to audio books. What is on your summer reading list?

As a pastor, I suppose one of the books on my reading list should be / is the Bible. It’s a real classic, with thousands of translations, and a lengthy history. Recently, it’s been given a 21st century update apparently, with millennials in mind.

The Bible Emoji. It is described as “A great and fun way to share the gospel.” Curious!?! If it gets people opening, reading, and discussing the Bible, it can’t be all bad?!

While I am looking forward to Bible reading, study, and devotional reflection this summer, I may stay with the New Revised Standard Version.

I am also looking forward to delving into other good reads – The Illegal, Birdie, The Hero’s Walk, Rising Strong, Between the Dark and Daylight, and I’m open to your book suggestions.

What’s on your reading list for this summer? I wonder what you will learn about yourself, others, creation, and Creator?
